Session Intro

The party investigates the aqueduct following the defeat of the Cleric Beast. They encounter a masked enemy and some dogs.

We’re 1/3rd of the way through the eldritch moon!

Session Notes

The session opens with the party still within the greenhouse terrarium. Waron regains his hearing. The party decides to search the bodies on the lake and burn the skurge infected water along with the splurge bodies. As the party emerges on the streets, stealthing back to the aqueduct, Narissa notices a creature seemingly stalking them on the roof. It seems to match pace with them to keep hidden. Subtly, she informs the party that they are being stalked. Waron notices their follower as well. As she turns around, she briefly sees a creature that seems to be dawning an aggregation of earth and vine mound, almost like a cape, covered creatures stalking them on the rooftops. After the individual lets loose a shingle, it hides.  The party decide to keep moving warily, and come back to the puddle to see three doberman-like dogs lapping up the water and investigating the bodies. They seem to have pustules and milky eyes. They try to approach unseen, but Waron steps on a potted plant “Shit!” One of the dogs seems to edge closer.

Waron uses divine senses to tell if they are skurge infected and he detects that there is one in front of them (the dog) and the creature on the roof. Narissa shoots the dog and they continue, leaving the one stalking them to be hidden. Marinus goes to investigate the aqueduct. Waron uses divine senses to try and determine which of the bodies were infected by skurge as he, Verina, Dur’zhoga, Cello and Gray approach the bodies. He determines every single body is skurge.

Marinus determines that the aqueduct was destroyed in such a way to divert the water to pool the water in a certain area, not to deprive water. He also determines it was done by the Cleric Beast. As Marinus prepares to use the socks, he sees the figure of moss and earth creature with a bird bone mask watching them against the moon. The figure seems composed of decaying mass and uses a staff. It has the outline of broken anatomical wings, roots that seem to emanate from it. It tilts its head. Marinus activates the socks and a voice suddenly echoes in his head.

“This is where you stop. You trifle with plans and means that do not concern you. Step back and your lives will be spared. You have slain the beast, leave this to work.” a chorus of rasping voices says in Marinus’s head. Marinus says that they are too invested and that they need more compensation if they are going to be convinced to leave.

“How about we exchange something between us? Something that cannot be weighed on a scale.” The creature suggests. “Something a hound gives free but am would rather ride than offer; an equal trade of loyalty.” Marinus declines.

“Well I have other hounds that will heed my beckon call.” The figure says/. The dogs that had fled return, growling. The oil begins to slowly spread over the lake, the party.  Waron tells Narissa that he will watch her back if she attacks the creature on the roof tops. Combat begins.

Marinus’s oil starts spreading outwards on the water

Combat

Waron tells Narissa that he will watch her back if she attacks the creature on the roof tops. She heckin’ nails him twice, wounding him in the process. A dog attacks Verena and Dur’zhoga. Gray runs to Dur’zoga as she is attacked and bitten. Waron cheerleader style launches Narissa up into the air and onto a building.  Narissa shoots the creature on the roof tops twice, making it look wounded. It’s eyes burning red, he throws off his cape to repeal a perpetually hunched 7 ft tall creature. It cracks off his bone beak mask and screams, as if calling for something. As a dog attacks Verena, she uses burning hands to scorch the beast.**Waron shouts at Narissa to focus on the big bad guy, who’s calling the wolves here, since they’re far away, while he covers her.

Cello uses a spell to make the Cleric Beast to smell like a succulent rotting meat for the incoming dogs. “If the monsters come here, we can light them on fire!” She shouts. The druid throws his staff and summons a different tentacled hound from the body of a dead one. The tentacle hound bounds off, attacking Marinus. It makes Marinus go unconscious and the creature takes his body in his mouth. Narissa’s gun misfires and the druid beasts laughs, saying “I was being charitable. But the Circle has lost its patience with all of you.” It says before he runs away.  Waron rushes to the top of the building. Waron manages to wrench Marinus’s body from him. The dog goes to Cello who is holding some cooked steak. The dog seems to love the meat and let’s Cello pet it. “Do you want some more boy?” they ask the beast.

The birdman creature is pissed at Narissa’s shots, and cracks his little skull item, which screeches and cries, appearing to call something…

  • His shoulders chuckle wickedly.
  • Then he retreats to the back of the roof…

Waron wants to:

  • Act as cover for Narissa?
  • See if he can pick up on what that thing was trying to summon…
  • Has the greased water spot expanded more? Narissa, do you

Howls coming from south, east, and north. Scourge Lycan howls coming our way.

Waron will hunt the prey mark the dog attacking Marinus to tp to them (will have to wait for next turn?)

  • Shit, I need to res him! Can I shove the hound off the top here?

The creature runs away.

  • ”I was trying to be patient with you”

For the one attacking Marinus, I might have to action dash, tank the reaction hit from the bestie, and use my bonus action to mark the dog by him with “hunt the prey”

Can I Action dash and bonus action spectral slash since it has a distance of 20ft to get up to Marinus?

Octo dog, is in fact, not friendly.

Does spectral slash free me from grappled state?

  • since I become a specter to pass through stuff?

I can attack, and if I succeed, transform my weapon to make the beast make a strength save or be pushed further into the oil!

  • try to use this to break the grapple?

Grey attacked the tentacle attached to me, maybe I can attack it w/ my bonus action to free myself, and use my action to get Marinus up again!

Well, you where a bit of a bastard, but I suppose you didn’t choose to be scourge ridden.

  • May you find solace in the light.

Waron notes for next Session:

Comment on Grey and Dur’zoga riding a hound over? Try to make up having to kill the dog to Cello.

  • Ideally consult Verena on how to best go about this
  • We’ll likely try and find some way to get her a familiar lol.
    • She technically already can do this via her hat, right?

Waron did mention he’s not a fan of dogs personally…

  • due to session 18 combat, were he got bodied by 2 hounds.

FOR THE VIDEO:

double down on the meme-y thumbnail from last time, but with a bunch of dogs, and more meat this time.

  • maybe give Cello an Apron over her sketch too.
  • Title something witty about this being Ep.2 of Cooking w/ Cello, or something about scourge puppies…

For reference, Cello was willing to lose her hand and be rebuilt to pet a scourge dog at the entrance initially lol.

  • Which Narissa shot shortly after
